I was an elementary school teacher for eleven years. During my last few years of teaching, I began to feel unfulfilled, and I knew that it was time to explore other career options and to find an occupation that was more suited to my interests. Leaving the only career I had known was extremely daunting; not only was I unsure of how to market my skills in other sectors, I was also unsure of what career path to take. I spent a couple of months last spring applying for job opportunities in the various sectors which held appeal for me, but was not able to come to any satisfying conclusion.
I heard of Times Change through word of mouth and arrived at the office just a few days later uncertain if Times Change was for me. I signed up for the orientation. Upon being further impressed during the orientation, I signed up for the Career Planning Workshop.
The Career Planning Workshop proved to be a very worthwhile experience. It helped me to clarify which fields of work are best suited to me and develop an effective action plan to help me research my chosen fields of interest. The interaction with other women in the group and the encouragement and feedback we provided each other have been a valuable support system, and continues to be, as we now meet on our own for continued support. Additionally, both throughout the duration of the workshop and since, I accessed the resource center on many occasions, finding the resources to be plentiful and relevant.
Times Change has made a huge difference for me and I feel very hopeful and positive about my future career direction.
