What is the new Employment Ontario model?

Effective August 1, 2010 Employment Ontario is introducing a new client-centered ‘Employment Service Delivery Model’. This new model will make it easier for you, as a job seeker, to find and access the employment services you need, all at one location.

2. Will Times Change remain a women’s agency?

Absolutely. Times Change will continue to provide a safe and supportive environment for women. We offer a variety of services and programs aimed at responding to the changing needs of women and the labour market.

3. What is changing?

Our core services and workshops will not change under the new model.

We will continue to provide free access to computers and a fully equipped Resource Centre, with Internet, photocopying, telephone, fax, employment resources, newspapers, a video library and a job board.

We will continue to offer the following popular workshops:

  • Introductory computer workshops, offered on various days of each month, are aimed at helping you improve and upgrade your computer skills. From Microsoft Office to Internet-based workshops, there may be a workshop to fit your needs.
  • Job Search Workshops, offered twice a month, are aimed at helping you find work through effective resume writing, interview and networking skills and identifying potential employers.
  • Career Planning Workshops, offered every five weeks, are aimed at helping women make occupation choices and set realistic career goals.

In addition to our workshops, Educational Counselling is available if you are thinking about upgrading your skills or going back to school. The Second Career program and the Ontario Self-Employment Benefit Program is available for women seeking training through government funding.

4. What to expect over the next year?

Over the next year, we will introduce job matching, connecting clients directly to employers through job placement, and specialty workshops on employment-related topics.

5. How do I get help from a Times Change counsellor?

Starting in August, if you are interested in our employment workshops and counselling services, you are required to attend our Getting Started workshop, and book an individual assessment appointment, so we can provide you with a full assessment of your needs. This new service will help you determine your employment objectives and put you on the right track toward your future.

In short, here are the necessary steps:

1) Call us at 416-927-1900 ext. 0 to register for a Getting Started workshop

2) Attend a Getting Started workshop

3) Make an appointment with a counsellor to assess your suitability and needs
