Volunteering at Times Change is a rewarding experience for women who are interested in helping other women in the process of moving toward economic self-sufficiency. This is also an excellent opportunity for women considering studying a community worker program, or interested in the non-profit sector. We simply could not do what we do without the dedication and support of all of our incredible volunteers!
Josie, Front Desk
When Josie Huhn retired from her 32-year career as a teacher she had a few goals in mind for her retirement, including giving back to the community and using her skill set to do so. In her words, “I was not done!”.
“I volunteer because I make a woman’s day brighter by treating them with respect and compassion, and a big smile.”
Josie stumbled onto a volunteer site and saw a request from a women’s employment centre. She says she thrives with volunteering and reaps many of its rewards, such as keeping her professional skills fresh and learning new ones in the process, interacting with the friendly staff, and the sense of purpose volunteering brings to her life. You'll see Josie on Thursday mornings at our front desk.
