Times Change Women’s Employment Service is seeking Board members for this unique women-centred not-for-profit agency. The Board operates under a policy governance model with a commitment to the financial and social well-being of the organization and its clients. As an inclusive organization, the Board welcomes diverse member candidates to better represent the community served.
Term: • Directors commit to a minimum of two years, on a volunteer basis.
The responsibilities of Directors include: • Governing the organization and overseeing strategy development • Developing policies which enable the Board to make responsible decisions • Providing fiscal and operational oversight of the agency
Qualifications: • Awareness of women’s issues particularly pertaining to employment • Specific areas of expertise may be required to ensure a diversity of experience, perspective and expertise on the Board (e.g., legal, human resources, financial) • Some business acumen and understanding of non-profit challenges • Strategic thinking and planning • Interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and problem solve • Strong network of connections that supports the continued growth of the organization
Other experience of benefit to candidates: • Former client of Times Change • Previous Board experience
Time Commitment: Current Board members dedicate an average of 8-12 hours a month to Board meetings and committees and are expected to attend monthly Board meetings. Occasional daytime availability may be a benefit.
