I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. Where should I start?
The easiest way to begin is to attend our Getting Started Workshop. This is an orientation session where you will learn in detail about our services, get a tour of our facilities and, with the help of a counsellor, clarify the next best step for you!
What types of services does Times Change offer?
Times Change offers career, employment and educational counselling, a wide range of computer services and a resource centre, all for women and free of charge. Click here for a detailed list and descriptions of all our client services.
Can I meet with someone to just review my resume?
Get a quick edit of your resume or cover letter through our resume clinic service before you submit an application to an employer! you will need to bring (or print off in our Resource Centre) a hard copy of your documents and a job posting. Each session offers up to 45 minutes for each client. If you require more help than this session allows, you will be referred to the Job Search Workshop.
If you're still in the process of writing your job search documents, you may want to visit our Resource Centre to access books and videos on resume preparation, cover letter writing and interview techniques. You can also reserve computer time to work on WinWay Resume Deluxe, a specialized program to help you create error-free, professional resumes. This is available on the PC computers in our Computer Room.
Can I schedule an individual appointment with a counsellor?
Attending the Getting Started Workshop, our orientation session, is the first step for all new clients. At this session you will have an opportunity to speak with an employment counsellor who will help you determine which service is right for you.
I want to upgrade my skills or go back to school. Can you help me with this?
If you know what type of training you are looking for, our Educational Counsellor can help by providing information about specific training programs, apprenticeships, upgrading and financial assistance.
If you are uncertain about the type of training you are looking for you may want to consider our Career Planning Workshop.
You also may want to attend a Second Career Information Session to help determine if you are eligible for this government-run training program.
What type of computer training do you provide?
We are not a training institute; however, we do offer two-hour Introductory Computer Workshops on Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Internet for Job Search, Email Basic Set-up and Use, and Sending Resumes Online.
We also offer a Computer Lab where all the computers have access to the Internet, Microsoft Office, and self-directed tutorials on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Mavis Beacon Typing tutorial for typing practice.
