Now Recruiting: Board of Directors 2025–2026

Times Change Women’s Employment Service is seeking passionate and dedicated women to join our volunteer Board of Directors. We are a respected women-centred non-profit that provides employment services in Toronto, operating under a policy governance model. We provide services such as job readiness training, job search and interview support, employment counselling and more.

We encourage diverse candidates to apply to better represent the community we serve. Lived experience related to our mission, including as a past client of Times Change, is welcomed and valued. Board members must commit to a minimum of two years on a volunteer basis and are responsible for governing the organization, overseeing strategy development, and providing fiscal and operational oversight…. more info

Qualifications

We are seeking diverse candidates with a particular focus on experience in fundraising or human resources. We recognize that no single applicant will have all the qualifications listed below, and we encourage you to apply if you are passionate about our mission and bring some of the following: :

Experience in fund development, philanthropy, grant writing, donor stewardship, or foundation relations

Experience in human resources, including managing union negotiations and setting policy

A network or strong understanding of the charitable or corporate funding landscape in Canada

Experience in the not-for-profit sector

Experience with or in employment services

Experience in organizational strategy and governance

Experience providing strategic counsel and leadership

Knowledge of or lived experience with the systemic barriers women face in the workforce; former clients are encouraged to apply

A positive and collaborative approach to problem solving

Commitment And How to Apply

Board member dedicates an average of 8-12 hours a month to meetings and committees, including monthly Board meetings with occasional daytime availability.

Board Member with Legal Experience (Lawyer)

Times Change Women’s Employment Service is seeking a woman with legal expertise for to volunteer as a Board Member. The Board operates under a policy governance model with a commitment to the financial and social well-being of the organization and to women’s issues overall.

The candidate should be:

A lawyer, practising or retired with non-profit experience.

Time Commitment:

Current Board members dedicate an average of 5-10 hours a month to Board meetings and committees and are expected to attend monthly Board meetings. All Board members are required to participate in fundraising activities.

Directors are committed to at least two years on a volunteer basis.

Volunteer Computer and Sage 50 Support

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and patient volunteer to provide both in-person and remote technical support for women looking for work, as well as for clients enrolled in our Sage 50 training program….more

Key Responsibilities:

Follow up with clients enrolled in Sage 50 training to ensure progress and resolve any issues encountered
Assist clients with exercises and answer questions related to Sage 50 training
Track client progress and provide feedback or additional resources as needed
Support clients in creating resumes and cover letters
Set up and assist clients with computer training tutorials
Assist clients with applying for jobs online and preparing for online interviews
Guide clients in sending resumes and job applications online
Provide one-on-one individual computer appointments both in-person and remotely
Provide additional administrative support as needed

Hours

Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week during our computer lab’s hours:

1 day per week from 10am-4pm
